Salman Khan, who is shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan in Kashmir, seems to be in love with the place. But not everyone is happy with the superstar’s visit to the valley
If you are Salman fan, you would have known by now how our B-town superstar is going gaga over Kashmir. The Kick star, who is in Kashmir shooting for Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, is completely bowled over by natural beauty and culture of Kashmir.
While he expressed his love for Kashmir, he also advocated for the re-opening of theatres in the valley. Salman said,” Everyone watches movies here. Cinema theatres should be re-opened here. We would love to premiere a film here if theatres are re-opened.” While premiering Bajrangi Bhaijaan at Kashmir might work wonders for the tourism, the chief of Dukhtaran-e-Milat thinks otherwise.
Slamming the actor for urging for re-opening theatres, Asiya Andrabi, chief of women’s separatist group Dukhtaran-e-Milat, said,”Salman Khan is acting like an Indian agent to help cultural aggression of Kashmir by India.” Calling films as a medium to perpetrate immoral and un-Islamic values, the leader of the seperatist group said,” We will not allow cinema halls to function in Kashmir. Whatever be the cost…”
Back in 1990′s, radical groups like Dukhtaran-e-Milat closed down the movie theatres, beauty parlours and video parlours in the valley. And it looks Salman’s earnest comments have not gone down well with these radical groups.
