Sam Smith has a voice like an angel, but unfortunately he won’t be able to grace the rest of his Australian tour dates with his soulful singing! The “Stay With Me” singer announced the cancelled tour dates in a Facebook message, writing that doctors have ordered him to stay on strict vocal rest because he has a hemorrhage in his vocal cords.

“I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords,” he wrote.

“The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal cords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue, I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. We will be announcing re-arranged dates very shortly. This kills me.”

While we understand that some people are probably upset about the news, it’s important for him to put his health first. We hope he gets better soon! But, overall, his fans have been really supportive, sending him ‘get well’ photos and comments.

Concertgoers have been advised to get refunds from wherever they bought their tickets, while fans who purchased their concert passes from Ticketek or Ticketmaster will be offered first pick of tickets for his new tour in December.

Are you surprised that Sam cancelled his tour? Send your kind thoughts to him in the comments!
