Off late, the ravishing beauty has made head turns in B-town thanks to her choice of films

To start off, I want to say that I am not an Anushka Sharma fan. But in the past three months or so, I have slowly grown fond of her, thanks to her charismatic screen presence and her interesting choice of films. While people might say she has long way to go to establish herself as a solo bankable star, I feel Anushka is in the right path for carving a niche for herself, giving tough competition to established A-listers like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

On the wake of her awe inducing show in NH10, here’s why the queen bees of Bollywood should be weary of Anushka Sharma:

Conquering box office with PK

Though Anushka might not be a seasoned actress like Priyanka or Deepika, she has achieved the mean feat of starring in a Rs 600 crore film, which all the B-town stars could only dream off. While one might argue that Aamir Khan was the driving force behind PK’s success, one cannot underestimate Anushka’s contribution as she sunk her teeth into a meaty role, delivering a beautiful performance.

Critical acclaim for hard hitting NH10

It takes great courage to star in an offbeat, realistic film with edgy action. And to try your hand in production for the first time with a film like NH10 requires immense confidence and self belief in oneself. Anushka Sharma has just done that by starring and producing NH10 which is high on substance and light on budget. By doing two back to back films with varying genres and production values, Anushka Sharma has made a mark with audience due to her versatility.

Great expectations with Bombay Velvet

The Jab Tak Hai Jaan star is an integral part of Anurag Kashyap’s much awaited Bombay Velvet, which is making all the right noises in the B-town. The actress has donned a jazzy avatar for the film, and her look in Bombay Velvet has already grabbed eyeballs. The film is expected to be a brilliantly crafted one, as it is an Anurag Kashyap film. With stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar, I would still expect Anushka to stand her ground and deliver a peach of a performance, thanks to my new found respect for her.

With Dil Dhadakne Do in the pipeline, Anushka seems to be making some serious inroads in B-town and might be giving sleepless nights to some Bollywood hotties.
