Bengal must be Deepika’s favourite place now!
Deepika Padukone’s Piku is still garnering accolades for her author-backed role, and I am sure, the lovely actress must be in the seventh heaven. Her Bengali girl act has only increased her ever-growing fan base faster than a Usain Bolt race. But Piku is not the only Bengal connection Deepika Padukone has in her career.

A little trivia for you – The first brand Deepika Padukone ever endorsed was for PC Chandra Jewellers, a Bengali chain of jewellers. And why did they zero in on her, even when she wasn’t a Bengali? ‘Cos her eyes screamed the essence of their state!

From there on she became a top model, later made her foray into Bollywood with Om Shanti Om, and is now one of the leading heroines with her Piku act being a major success. So while Bengali is kinda lucky for her, one must not forget that she has also won appreciation for her South Indian turn in Chennai Express and her Marathi mulgi act in Happy New Year, both being blockbusters.

So by playing a Bengali girl in Piku, has Deepika’s career come to a full circle? You let us know…
