Senior Bachchan has 21 days to respond and attend court…
Amitabh Bachchan has never really had a brush with the judiciary. He has had an almost balanced life with not too much of legal hassles coming his way. But it seems the 72 year old would have to get down to court as he had been served. Yes you read that right. Big B has been asked to come to court. Wonder what it is about?
Amitabh has been summoned by a Los Angeles federal court in allegation pertaining to human rights violation. The lawsuit has been filed by a New York based body called Sikh For Justice (SFJ), which claims that Senior Bachchan had instigated violence against the Sikh community by raising “blood for blood” slogans in 1984.
Bachchan has denied the allegations straight away. The Shamitabh actor’s manager in Hollywood, David A Unger has received a copy of the summons on February 23. According to the federal laws of the United States, Bachchan has 21 days to respond to the charges and attend court thereby. “If defendant failed to respond by March 17, we will move the court for entry of default judgment imposing compensatory and punitive damages against Bachchan for instigating violence which took lives of thousands of innocent Sikhs during November, 1984,” said Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ, while speaking to a leading daily.
In the past as well the SFJ has filed lawsuits against prominent Indians like PM Narendra Modi and ex-PM Manmohan Singh. We are waiting for a response from Amitabh Bachchan on the same. Keep checking out this space for more updates on the same.
