The actress has been termed as 2014’s Most Desirable Woman. But is she really? Here’s what I have to say…
I saw the papers this morning with Sunny Leone’s sexy picture on the front page and the title reading ‘Sunny Leone: 2014’s Most Desirable Woman.’ The first thought that struck me was; on what basis is she being called desirable? Gone are the days when desirability was synonymous with one’s sex appeal, oomph, and sensuality. Apart from these factors, an actor’s performances, career choices, personality, versatility and roles too now find a place on the list when it comes to terming someone as desirable. Keeping all qualities in mind, I strongly believe that Sunny certainly isn’t India’s most desirable woman.
When I look back at the career choices that Sunny has made, monotony is the key word instead of versatility. Apart from bikinis, sex scenes and skin show, I can think of nothing more that the actress has brought to the table. I’m not against erotica, but the fact that Sunny has done JUST that in most of her films, speaks ill of the title newly assigned to her. What about varied roles, refreshing characters? Ragini MMS 2, Jism 2, Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, Matizaade, can you spot the difference?
The list also featured the likes of Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and others. Dippy bagged the second position and quite shockingly, Priyanka was assigned the sixth. In my opinion these women are definitely more desirable than Sunny and here’s why:
Deepika Padukone: Dippy started her career as a Kingfisher model and today, she is one of the leading actresses in B-town. From being the sexy Veronica in Cocktail to the desi Leela in Ram- Leela, the beauty has entertained us with fresh roles each time. She is all set to be seen as Piku in the film with the same name. Apart from her career, the actress has made certain personal life choices which speak highly of her courage. Her ‘My Choice’ video may have faced backlash but the actress can truly be credited for having spoken on the topic of depression in front of the nation. Doesn’t that account for desirability?
Priyanka Chopra: PC is the jack of all trades. Be acting, singing, dancing or her style choices, the beauty makes a statement in each arena. PC today is known to be one the leading fashion icons in B-town and has come a long way since she first started out. The actress has made a name for herself not only in the Indian but international market as well, be it her music albums or her role in Quantico.
Kangana Ranaut: If there’s anyone who deserves to be 2014’ most desirable woman, it’s Kangana in my opinion. The actress recently bagged the National award for her mind blowing performance in Queen. Apart from her work, why Kangana stands out from the rest each time is because of her fearlessness. The beauty speaks her mind and is confident of her opinion. Kangana also has managed to make a name for herself in the fashion department where her bold and eccentric style is often appreciated by critics.
Like I said, desirability no longer is limited to one’s physical qualities, sex appeal and oomph. In my opinion, a PC as Mary Kom, Kangana as Queen and Deepika as Piku can be equally desirable when considering all the factors. Kangana, Priyanka and Deepika are the complete package as they encompass physical attributes and also have proven their abilities with their roles, characters, performances and career choices. Congrats to Sunny for the title, but now that the term desirable is synonymous with several other qualities which I’ve mentioned above, I believe Sunny isn’t worthy of being termed as 2014’s Most Desirable woman.
Do you agree Crimaz? Do you think Sunny deserves the title when being pitted against the likes of Deepika, Kangana and Priyanka? Post your votes in the box below!
